"Be True, Wear Blue!" March is Colon Cancer Awareness Month. March 11, 2014 - St. Luke’s Medical Center Global City, Main Lobby
The opening ceremony of a month long celebration. Everyone must take a part on spreading how a simple COLONOSCOPY could save you and your love ones. I was assigned to be one of the event coordinators and I believe I did well with my part. Had to work overtime just to finish a video presentation to be flashed on SLMC hallways. Took lots of photos and selfies with IDLD staff and SLMC executives.
I was expecting it to be short yet fun-filled day with her. Short because she told me beforehand that she has work on a PM shift (2pm-10pm) on the same day so we decided to have lunch instead of having dinner in Dad’s, Kamayan and Saisaki.
The night before my birthday, I fetched her from work and we pigged out at Mercato in BGC. We tried some Palestinian cuisine which we found very flavourful and heavy. As the clock struck midnight, she greeted me a joyful happy birthday. It feels good hearing it. It was really late so we went home immediately. I slept on their sofa as usual and I fell asleep quickly as we got there. As soon as I opened my eyes, I checked on my phone to see the time and it was already 10:00 am and I was really bothered and I really hurried preparing myself since we surely will be late for our scheduled lunch date. I saw her already in her scrub suit and I was really disappointed because I thought she was just kidding about her work schedule.
On our way to Ayala, I was carrying a big cake that she baked which she said is supposedly for a doctor that ordered it two days ago. I told her that I want the cake and give it to me instead but she said No and apologized. As we walk to Glorietta 3, she informed me that she was in a dire need to pee so we hurried up to Dad’s, Kamayan and Saisaki. When we got there, I signed up for the birthday promo and she hurried her way to the comfort room.
After 15 minutes, she’s still missing. I got worried. I wanted to call her by phone but i forgot my phone inside her bag which is apparently with her also. Few more minutes, she went out walking towards our table and to my surprise, she was wearing a real nice dress and a denim polo that left my jaws open for quite some time. Curious, I asked her why she changed her clothes all of a sudden when she was supposed to have work. Kidding, she told me she just changed her outfit for the sake of the photos I’ll take. When she can’t handle the guilt anymore she admitted that she was just kidding and that day was really her day-off even though she did not ask her manager for that day-off. What a treat! I really was surprised! And here comes the surprise cake. The band who sang us lots of songs and a happy birthday of course.
We then finished our lunch and decided to walk around Greenbelt. We went to the Koi pond. She asked me to close my eyes as she held my hand and started scribbling letters to form a word just like a little kid. She scribbled the words “I LOVE YOU” and “HAPPY BIRTHDAY”. My eyes still closed, I felt something like a plastic container on my hand and again, to my surprise, it was a plasticware full of messages from my co-trainees and co-workers in St. Luke’s. I was really touched with everyones effort and her time to collect all those pieces of paper. And for the last surprise gift, she handed me a letter coming from her. As I read it, I was literally in tears. Tears of Joy. Thank you so much Janelle Anne. Thank you! :)
So my girlfriend’s been bugging me about this place that she wanted to try for so long. We’ve been eyeing to visit other branches since early November and it happened to open a branch recently just this 23rd of December along Commerce Avenue, Alabang (Beside Acacia Hotel Manila) near her humble home in Las Piñas.
Straight from a graveyard shift, we forced our way straight ahead to this place very excited yet clueless. What we only have in the back of our minds was that we’d be able to create our own pizza but we had no idea how we would make spices compliment each other. But what built our confidence to experiment things was the staff which were very accommodating and the place is very relaxing.
As we approached the counter, they welcomed us and asked if it was our first time and we said yes. Again, they asked if we know what we were doing, I answered “Let’s say, No.” But honestly I had no slightest idea. They were very good at explaining things, technical but you won’t get lost. So, first things first, we started with the dough and the sauce. You can choose between white sauce or red sauce and then we come over to the cheesy part, the cheese. And now we go to the unlimited different spices that made it very exciting. You can customize your own pizza with accordance to your preference. Then they will put it inside a big oven and we have to wait for just a few minutes.
While they were preparing our customized pizza, the team leader of the branch noticed that I was taking photos and asked if I was a blogger. I affirmed and then luckily she gave me the permission to take photos beyond the pizza counter. After that, a free Banana Nutella was served and she gave me a token where I could use to get a free build your own pizza at any branch every time I visit.
